i’ve compiled a few of my most frequently asked questions to get you ready for your engagement session!

Q: What should I wear?

A. it’s important that you feel completely comfortable in what you’re wearing for your engagement session! my best advice is to choose outfits that are complementary (not matching!) and that reflect your own personal style. be sure to select shoes that you can walk comfortably in, as most of my engagement sessions are based around a leisurely stroll.

some couples choose to do an outfit change halfway through (often one that’s “dressier” and one that’s more casual); if this is the case, make sure that you drive + can store the clothing in your car, or that we arrange the session around a stop back at your home. i’ll ask that you don’t carry any bags with you during your session so that i can capture plenty of candid moments as we’re walking between locations.

(if you feel you need additional input on your outfits, feel free to text me photos of what you’re considering!)

Q. WheN & Where should we plan the session?

when possible, it’s best to begin the session about 2 hours before sunset.

i like to split engagement sessions between two general locations to create variety in lighting and setting in the final images. i recommend selecting locations that have personal significance which will create an added layer of meaning and depth to the photographs.

(if you don’t have a particular location in mind, or if you’re just visiting philadelphia, i’m happy to recommend some great spots.)

Q. I’m awkward in front of the camera. Help!

it’s natural to feel a bit strange at first in front of the camera. i will give enough direction to make you feel comfortable, and rest assured we’ll do lots of walking and laughing to get the jitters out. to avoid the photos feeling too staged, and to eliminate any self-consciousness, i love when my couples plan a fun date and then invite me along to third wheel. a hike in the woods, an afternoon in the kitchen, or cafe-hopping in your neighborhood are all great ideas. by focusing on a shared activity and one another, i’ll be able to capture lots of photos of you in your element, as you are.

Q. WheN WILL I RECEIVE THE IMAGES?

because I integrate film into my sessions, the turnaround time is approximately 1 month. at that point, you’ll receive your full gallery of images from your session!

unfortunately i cannot accommodate sneak peeks with engagement sessions.
